What is a Google Ads certificate?
Google Ads certificate is a professional accreditation that’s issued by Google for everyone that passes exams and gets certificates through the Skillshop platform. If you don’t have any interest in getting the certificates, Skillshop platform has a lot of courses in which you can learn a lot about other Google products and properties like YouTube, Google My Business, Android and other platforms that are part of the Google ecosystem.
Why are Google certificates important?
To be clear, just passing the exam and getting the certificate doesn’t mean you’re a Google Ads expert and it’s possible to get the certificates without any real life experience in creating and managing campaigns.
It’s easier when you already have some experience in managing Google Ads campaigns but that shouldn’t discourage beginners. Google courses are an excellent starting point for Google Ads and it’s worth it to go through all study materials before getting your certification.
Having a Google certificate shows that you have the will and persistence to show yourself in a better light to your potential employer or client.
Also, for a long time, one of the prerequisites for getting Google partner status are certified employees of the agency. If you work or plan to work in a marketing agency, it’s better to have all the required Google Ads certificates.

To enter the Skillshop platform where the certificates are given, you have to have a Gmail account.
Google Ads Search certificate – serves as a proof that the person can create and optimize Google Ads Search campaign. The course covers topics like developing a Google Search strategy within a broader marketing strategy and creating a plan of growth for growing the number of leads, customers or traffic on your website. You’ll know what are and how to use automatic bidding strategies and how to create a good Google Ads campaign.

Google Ads Display certificate – Course and certificate goes through creating and optimizing Google Display campaigns and how to get the best possible ROI.

Google Ads Video certificate – Learn the value of YouTube for advertisers, users and content creators. You’ll learn how to leverage YouTube users to place a relevant ad, how to create a quality video strategy and storytelling.

Google Shopping Ads certificate – Considering Shopping isn’t still available in Croatia, this is the only way to learn about Shopping campaigns unless you have a client that’s working on foreign markets where Shopping is available. Through the course you’ll learn how to use Shopping campaigns to promote products, how Smart campaigns work and what are all the ways on how to connect the buyer and seller through Google.

Google Ads Apps certificate – certificate that’s based on App campaigns. It goes through on how to create an App campaign, how to select realistic goals and analyze results of the campaign.

Google Ads Measurement certificate – The course and certificate that teaches you how to translate goals into actions, how to correctly set up conversion tracking, which attribution model to pick relevant to your goals that you want to get and how to analyze and optimize campaigns.

Other Google certificates
Although they’re not part of the Google Ads certificates, you can learn and get other certificates from Google. Most are useful and you’ll use these tools regularly, regardless of the fact that they’re not an official part of Google Ads, they are perfectly connected to it.
Google Analytics Individual Qualification – known as GAIQ certificate, until recently, it was the most difficult certificate to get from all the Google certificates. The course teaches basic and advanced Google Analytics concepts like planning, implementation, data collection, conversions, attribution and reports.
Search Ads 360 certificate – Course and certificate covers the Search Ads 360 platform from the Google Marketing platform. How to create a Search campaign on search engines, creating goals and targeting, bidding strategies and optimization of campaigns. It’s used in conjunction with bigger budgets and campaigns.
Campaign Manager certificate – covers planning, implementation and reporting in Campaign Manager. It’s used in conjunction with bigger budgets and campaigns.
Creative certificate – Course goes through creating designs in Google Web Design and Creative for creating HTML and dynamic creatives.
Display & Video 360 certificate – Similar to Search Ads 360, it’s used in conjunction with bigger budgets and campaigns, and the course goes through setting goals, budgets, targeting and creatives for Display and Video.
Mobile Experience certificate – interesting course that’s not directly based for Google, but how mobile experience is important, how to look at conversion tracking and how’s the user experience on the website. Why is personalisation important and how can marketers influence speed and user experience on mobile.
YouTube Music certificate – Course and certificate go through promotion, earnings and managing a channel on YouTube.
YouTube Music Rights Management certificate – Course and certificate that serves music creators to learn what copyright rights they have and how to protect them.
